James Wade was born and raised outside Detroit. After attending the University of Michigan, and honing his skills at the famed Motor City photo studio Boulevard Photographic, Wade moved to New York City and began working as apprentice to the legendary photographer Hiro.  Grounded in the traditional photographic techniques of his mentors, Wade struck out on his own, adding digital technology to his already varied toolbox.

 

James Wade brings an unparalleled knowledge of photographic equipment and lighting techniques to every shoot, allowing him to explore his subjects with the utmost freedom. Quite simply, Wade can make anything happen, whether the subject is as large as a marble atrium or as small as a diamond earring; as still as a bar of soap, or as animate as a room full of children.  He is experienced in all areas of photo production and photography — portrait, fashion, interiors, architectural, and still-life — as well as video lighting and production.  Wade has shot for Vera Wang, InStyle, Condé Nast Brides, Glamour, German Vogue, American Express, Victoria's  Secret, David Yurman, Christian Dior, Lancôme, Samsung, Method Home, and Stainmaster, among others.
